DrillMaster Summer Nationals

Rob Leatham
Each drill has a drill description, set-up specifications and a commentary by Rob that explains what skills the drill is designed to address. A video shows Rob shooting the drill with his best runs. The drills are not limited to USPSA, the drills rotate between USPSA, IDPA, ICORE, and IPSC targets and rules each month. By the end of the year three drills of each discipline will have been shot. Members anywhere can set-up the drill and shoot for score each month and can organize their own local matches. The DrillMaster match at Rio Salado is held on the fourth Sunday of each month.
Each year the DrillMaster Nationals are held in Mesa Arizona consisting of each of the drills from the past year. This year it was decided that the Nationals would be split between a Summer and Winter schedule. When it was first proposed a few months ago, when the weather was nice in Arizona, no one seems to have remembered that July is not only hot, hot, hot but it’s also monsoon season so it’s humid, humid, humid. Maybe next year it’ll be a Spring and Fall Nationals. Regardless we just got up early and had plenty of water and sunscreen as we do each weekend this time of year.
When shooting a regular monthly DrillMaster match, the drill for that month is set up multiple times and each shooter gets typically 5 runs on the drill. At the Nationals match it’s only one run on each of the drills. You’ve got to step up and shoot your best score.
