Tripp Research makers of the CobraMag 1911 and AR magazines, has a couple of movies online of high-speed video they created that shows how several firearms function when fired. Unfortunatley they don’t seem to have maintained the video links and the only link I can get to work is the one provided here.

The first several frames show the effects of a compensator. It’s amazing that the gases are expelled through the ports well before the gun begins to unlock.

In the next sequence the action of an AR is shown, watch how the bolt bounces backward as it returns to battery.

The next sequences are the highlight. They show several sequences of a cut-away 1911, you can see the new rounds being pushed up in the magazine and how the round cams over the feed ramp into the barrel.

In the close-ups of the cutaway you can see the upper lugs unlocking as the barrel drops and engaging as the barrel rises as the gun goes back into battery. In the muzzle slo-mo you can see the pressure pulse ahead of the bullet and the explosion of gases as it leaves the barrel.

Too bad they haven’t kept up with the videos but this one is pretty interesting.

Here is the link; Tripp Research click on the 1st Streaming Video “High” link or use the download link. Several of them don’t work.
