Northern Arizona Classic

What happens when the temperatures start climbing upwards of 100 degrees in Phoenix? Shooters head north to the high-country to shoot, that’s what. The Yavapai Recreation League held the 2nd Annual Northern Arizona Classic, May 30-31st in Prescott Arizona.
The Whispering Long Tree Range is located about 14 miles Southwest of the Historic town of Prescott Arizona, known for it’s Historic Whiskey Row Saloons where the likes of Wyatt and Virgil Earp along with Doc Holliday were frequent patrons.
The match accommodated 154 competitors including Range Officers, shooting 10 stages over the 2 days. The stages were designed with lots of shooting in mind. The lowest round count being 24 and the highest 32. The similarity of the stages resulted in a narrow range of high hit factors between 7 and 10 demanding a balance of speed and accuracy. Consistently quick, good hits, few mistakes wins the day.
Eddie Garcia was the Overall Match Winner, as well as Open Class winner by 145 match points over 2nd place Open Romynick Janolino, and Mike Trombley in 3rd.

Competitor after competitor expressed how much fun this match was to shoot. Lot’s of shooting on the move, fast targets and lots of rounds. Sounds like just what the shooting doctor ordered to a crowd of shooters facing heat in the valley.
